7th Asia Pacific Congress on Controversies to Consensus in Diabetes, Obesity and Hypertension (CODHy AP) – Shanghai, China, 10-11 May, 2019

It is with great pleasure that we invite you to attend the 7th Asia Pacific Congress on Controversies to Consensus in Diabetes, Obesity and Hypertension (CODHy) to be held in Shanghai, China, May 10-11, 2019.

The great success of the previous six CODHy AP Congresses held in Shanghai has enabled CODHy to examine and debate the specific issues China and the rest of the world faces in dealing with Diabetes, Obesity and Hypertension and the various methods which Chinese Clinicians and researchers have created in order to tackle these challenges.

Academically, the 7th CODHy AP Congress will raise the most dynamic and controversial topics facing clinicians in the fields of Diabetes, Obesity and Hypertension in an exciting debate forum. The scientific program will include the most dynamic and controversial topics facing Asian and international clinicians in the fields of Diabetes, Obesity and Hypertension in an exciting debate forum. Allowing ample time for speaker-audience discussion, the Congress aims at reaching up-to-date and agreed-upon answers to ongoing debates even when data remains limited, through evidence-based medicine and expert opinion. Participants will have the opportunity to take part in this vibrant meeting which will facilitate discussions on the shared experiences and opinions of leading local and international experts. The 7th CODHy AP Congress will emphasize issues related to in terms of epidemiology, genetics, diagnostics, typical complications and distinctive responses to treatments.

European NASH Workshop 2019 (8 – 9/3/2019, Βαρκελώνη)

We are proud to announce the first edition of the European NASH Workshop 2019. The workshop is scheduled for March 8-9 2019 and will take place in Barcelona, Spain.

BACKGROUND

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is an emerging liver disease affecting 25 % of the population worldwide. In 10% of patients, NAFLD progresses into NASH, a fibrogenic phenotype that can potentially result in cirrhosis, liver failure and the formation of hepatocellular carcinoma.
Although NAFLD is globally the most prevalent chronic liver disease and the second leading indication for liver transplant evaluation in the US, knowledge concerning the molecular mechanisms favoring the development and progression of the disease are not fully understood. Current understanding supports the hypothesis that environmental and genetic factors equally influence disease progression.
Considering the far-reaching societal and economic burden caused by NAFLD, it is of utmost importance to identify and subsequently implement guidelines to stage, diagnose and treat the disease efficiently.
In particular, there is an unmet need for approved drugs that allow the pharmacological treatment of (pre-)cirrhotic NASH. By using surrogate endpoints, the drug approval process for NASH is accelerated and approved agents are expected to enter the market in the near future.

This workshop aims to train clincians on current and future treatment options. We specifically aim to provide practical guidance to secondary stakeholders, such as endocrinologists, diabetologists, cardiologists and general practitioners, on how to manage NAFLD/NASH.

Patient Centered Meeting (PCM) on Diabetes, Dyslipidemia and Hypertension Vienna, Austria (October 31 – November 3, 2019)

We are excited to announce the inauguration of a new series of medical education experience – Patient Centered Meeting. The first will focus on diabetes, hypertension and dyslipidemia.

Our aim is to empower clinicians managing patients with these major risk factors. The program is designed to move beyond the traditional presentation of the various topics and clinical trials and will emphasize the translation of current knowledge to clinical practice. We will present and discuss a wide range of settings from structured algorithms and protocols to unanswered conditions; from straightforward situations to challenging complex high risk and difficult to treat patients; and most importantly, from guidelines to personalized medicine.
In addition to the workshops, case studies, meet the experts sessions and round table discussions, you will be able to share your own clinical cases that will allow your peers to learn from at the Poster sessions.

The meeting will take place in beautiful Vienna, which will offer you, together with the interesting program, some cultural experience, whether at its famous opera house, museums or just enjoying the city landmarks and ambient.
